Event Description

Originating in Eastern Europe, borshch is a deep, ruby-colored beet-based soup that incorporates whatever is growing in your garden to create a hearty, healthy meal. It was used by our grandmothers and mothers as a means to stretch their food budget and weekly meals just a little bit further.  In very bad times of hunger, Borshch was a staple to nourish their families.

Every mother or grandmother would have a Borshch recipe. This traditional Ukrainian soup combines the earthiness of beets with the freshness of dill, garlic, and other vegetables.  If the families were lucky enough, their borshch would have some meat base or some mushrooms.

Come join us in this celebration of our Ukrainian Borshch and help us choose the best one, prepared by our registered contestants.  A cash prize will be awarded to the winner of the best borshch, as chosen by your votes.  As well, the best decorated table will also be awarded a cash prize.

Come and taste the contestants' borshch; eat as much as you want and then vote for the best.

There will be music, songs, a raffle, and a lot of community fun. Come celebrate with us.
