As part of the Government of Canada’s response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada introduced new immigration streams for Ukrainians who want to come to Canada temporarily or permanently. From January 18 to February 13, 2023, Operation Ukrainian Safe Haven administered a questionnaire nationally for submissions to understand the projects and initiatives that organizations and stakeholders undertook to welcome displaced Ukrainians to Canada and share their learnings and innovative practices. 69 organizations and stakeholders provided submissions highlighting their projects and initiatives nationally.
The projects requested focus on three theme areas:
- Housing
- Employment Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs)
- Community Building & Smaller Centres
Operation Ukrainian Safe Haven is organizing a series of webinars to hear from a select number of organizations who have participated in welcoming and settling newcomer Ukrainian Families nationally. Each webinar will focus on a theme area and organizations will share about their project, the outcomes and key learnings and we will have time for a Q&A session with our speakers.
